IES ILLUMINATION AWARD OF MERIT - METROPOLITAN STATION IN LUBLIN
The Illuminating Engineering Society has awarded the Metropolitan Station in Lublin its Award of Merit, making it the second of our projects this year to receive this honour. As well as its remarkable architecture, a key feature of the station is its lighting, which combines functionality, aesthetics, and energy efficiency. The lighting is characterised by a minimalist design and high-quality workmanship. Discreetly integrated into the structure, the lighting illuminates the decorative cladding and highlights architectural details, creating a sophisticated scenographic effect. This sustainable lighting is the result of a combination of design and technological innovation, and fits perfectly into the concept of responsible development, emphasising the quality of materials and attention to detail. Our entire team is delighted and proud that the results of our work have been recognised by a professional jury and ranked among the most interesting lighting projects worldwide in the past year. We would like to thank the Tremend designers for their cooperation in designing and implementing this unique project.

IES ILLUMINATION AWARD OF MERIT - POLISH HISTORY MUSEUM
The lighting of the monumental building of the new Polish History Museum in Warsaw has been honoured with the Award of Merit by the American Illuminating Engineering Society. The museum is located on the site of the former Warsaw Citadel, a Russian fortress and prison from the period of the partitions (19th century). The building is one of the largest national investments in recent years. This magnificent museum facility uses state-of-the-art technology to present over 1,000 years of Polish history. The lighting design is a very important part of the investment. The austere architecture of the building offers enormous lighting possibilities, and the colour and intensity of light in individual areas become part of the story. The main principle adopted in the lighting design is the consistent use of extreme colour temperatures, ranging from 2200K to 6500K. The rule is to use warm light colours wherever there is an ‘interior’ and cold light colours in ‘exterior’ spaces . This principle already applies to the square in front of the building entrance – the cold daylight filling the ‘exterior’ space contrasts with the large window recesses illuminated with warm light, which invite visitors to enter the ‘interior’. The building has been honoured with many prestigious awards in the field of architecture and public space. We would like to thank the architects from WXCA — the authors of the MHP project — for their fruitful cooperation.

LIT LIGHTING DESIGN AWARDS - HONORABLE MENTION
QLS - QLAB LIGHTING SYSTEM
The Qlab Lighting System (QLS), developed by QLAB Laboratory of Light, has been honoured as part of the LIT Design Awards - a competition honouring the best in lighting product design and lighting design worldwide. The explanatory memorandum reads, among other things: The QLS provides a perfect integration of daylight and artificial light in rooms. It allows the creation of a high-quality lighting environment and comfortable working conditions, based on the use of daylight. Daylight deficiency is supplemented by artificial lighting and can be adapted to individual user preferences. The system consists of a light shelf that directs sunlight into the room, a roller blind underneath to protect against glare, automatically controlled luminaires, and a set of sensors with a controller that is responsible for continuously maintaining optimal lighting conditions, previously set by the user. The QLS system represents an undeniable innovation in office interior lighting. It guarantees daylight illumination of interiors, and protection from excessive sunlight for users, and supplements deficiencies with artificial light to the minimum necessary extent. It makes it possible to enjoy the benefits of daylight - the most beneficial light source for humans. Take a look at the project presentation on the competition website >>>>

2023 IALD AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
POLISH SOLDIERS CEMETERY AT WESTERPLATTE
We are delighted to announce that the lighting designed by QLAB Laboratory of Light for the Polish Army Soldiers' Cemetery at Westerplatte in Gdansk has received an IALD Award of Excellence. The IALD 2023 International Lighting Design Awards, were awarded at a gala ceremony on 13.09.2023. Out of hundreds of realisations from around the world, the international jury recognised seven projects by awarding them the title of Excellence, for demonstrating an exceptional approach to light design and for their contribution to the professional design community.Designed by QLAB Laboratory of Light, the illumination is part of the 2022 modernisation of the Polish Army Soldiers' Cemetery. The illumination design was praised, among other things, for bringing the grave steles out of the gloom, introducing a symbolic boundary between the illuminated circle of gravestones and the surrounding dark forest - as if between life and death. Sources of light illuminate only the essential, heightening the mood of contemplation and melancholy. The shadows of the leaves on the stone slabs evoke the dark forest as a witness to those events. Subtle changes in light intensity draw the visitor's attention to successive tombstones, so that each fallen soldier becomes for a moment symbolically the most important defender of Westerplatte. We invite you to take a look at the presentation of this highly significant realisation >>> We invite you to watch the video:
